    why is the same bidder constantly raising his own bid on the same item with no competitive bids in between his bids

    i am currently bidding on a magnavox dvd recorder and there are several bids from "32" where he or she continues to raise his or her own bid with NO competing bid in between his bids.

      The bidder probably has a max bid set to auto out bid any bid less then his max. You can not know if no one else is bidding. Someone is trying and his max bid is countering their bid automatically. So his would be the next bid shown, not theirs as they had the lesser bid.

        Perhaps the bidder does not understand the process, WBMG


        Or worse yet it is the seller, trying to up the price.
