First of all, disconnect battery so as to avoid unwanted electrical spark. Next disconnect filler tube and remove from mouth of tank. Undo tank straps one at a time, allowing you to reach up and disconnect wire to fuel pump module (keep track of what wires go where - tag with tape if necessary). Remove tank. Don't be surprised if straps and bolts securing them neeed to be replaced. Matter of fact, I would recomend it.
Not a pleasant job, but one able to be done within 2 hours if you don't have problems breaking bolts off. You can remove your fuel pump module and put it in your new tank while it is out of the vehicle. New seal and locking ring is advisable if needed for proper securing of module. Even if things are rusted and stuck together, be gentle with your module and don't go yanking things unnecessarily, as it is important not to go bending the fuel level arm.
Re-assembly should be just the reverse of taking it out. Put a new clamp on your rubber fill tube if needed, and take a light touch of oil on your finger inside the fill tube to help it slide on the on the tank. Good luck and make sure to stay safe by making sure you have something solid to catch the car if it slides on the jacks, stands, or however you have the vehicle lifted up. ( A lot of people have been crushed by people not taking precautions in case the car came down unexpectedly.)
