Why is the signal from my Technics SL-DD33 turntable too low to drive my amplifier?

The sound coming from the speakers is very low even with the volume turned all the way to MAX.

    Hi,

Maybe the cable is to long, the shielding of the cable broken or lose, the pins of the plug corroded, maybe did you put it in the wrong place at the amplifier? Maybe the amplifier has a place for a guitar or microphone or tapedeck, try different results with the loudnes on or off, try them but be careful for your boxes. It might blow them up if you set them to loud.

The amplifier I am using only has one input line. I am using a 3 ft. cable adapter that adapts the 2 RCA on the turntable to a single mini-plug that connects to the amplifier. My TV plugged into the same input works fine.
