It depends upon their master !!

"It's a dogs life", refers to an easy life. The life of a dog where all his needs are taken care of bu his owner. All he has to do is lay about, eat, sleep, play a little and lay about some more. The same can be said of a cat. 

NOT SO .!! COLLEEN I LEAD A DOG`S LIFE HOUSE WORK PUTTING FRESH BATTERY'S IN MY WIFE`S  REMOTE  TO CONTROL ME LEAVES SCRAPS OF FOOD LEFTOVERS ON THE FLOOR .WHEN I PLEASE HER SHE PATS MY HEAD AND SAYS GOOD BOY !

Here in the country a dogs life is considered a hard life, dogs are generally kept as working dogs,though they are well trained and bred for the purpose of rounding up cattle and hunting.A cat's life,at my place anyway is entirely different,it's spent thieving things off my plate (doesn't eat the stuff just enjoys the challenge) throwing himself at my bedroom door if I have the hide to try and close it,only because he generally pushes me out of bed,seems one little cat want's an awful lot of space, but he does regularly bring me goodies,usually a field mouse proudly dropped alive on the bed in the middle of the night
