Fourth annual Elvis Fest gearing up for August show

Here we are again, ready to shake, rattle and roll Aug. 20 at the Gimli Recreation Centre to celebrate the fourth annual Gimli Elvis Fest.
Marsha Tarnowski, event organizer, says this years' offerings will be bigger and better than previous years.
We have 20 Elvis tribute artists from all across Canada performing at this years' event, including the European champion William Maurice and Manitobas' own Adam T. Elvis who came in third at the world championships in Collingwood , Ont.
The streets of Gimli will have Elvis artists performing in a busker-like setting from noon to 3 p.m. to kick off the evening show at the rec centre.
The family-run festival will also see some familiar community organizations added to the mix of fun and entertainment.
Evergreen Basic Needs will again be on-hand, with a cash calender, to raise funds for their organization while the Knights of Columbus, teamed up with the Gimli Wolves Hockey Club, will man the bar. The Kiwanis will once again have their food wagon on site for hungry Elvis fans.
Last years' Elvis Fest attracted more than 1,200 fans who enjoyed the evening in the comfort of the rec centres' curling rink -- and this year will be no different.
If it is too hot that day the rec centre will turn on the ice plant to cool things down, said Tarnowski.
The upcoming show will open its doors at 5:30 p.m. for a 6:30 p.m. start. Tickets and information are available at the Super A in Gimli or call Marsha at 642-4373 or elvis1@mts.net
