They are now about 3 weeks old. The one I've named Romos is missing a foot because 2 days after he was born, the male parakeet bit his foot off. When they are that young, the feet are very fleshy with just a hint of bone and the toes are just nubs. The remainder of his foot healed fine and he now has like 1/2 a foot (like a people foot) and of course, no toes. I took the male out of the cage because of that and left Romos with the mother but she rejected him so I've been hand feeding him ever since. Bandit hatched a day after I took Romos out and mom was doing great for the first few days but then went to feeding Bandit just enough to keep her alive so she was not gowning and was too weak to do anything by lay on her back. So I took her way from the mother and have been hand feeding her too. So this time around, I did have to become a mamma bird.
I named the one bird Romos because ROMOS whined so much the last time when I didn't name any of the others Romos.
Bandit is bandit because of the black band running from eye to eye :)

They are beautiful. I love theire colors. Too bad little Romos lost his foot. Congratulation and keep us up to date. You are going to be busier than usual, but they are worth it.

I'm in a corner...can't even remember if it's the tardy corner, the naughty corned, the smite corner, or the smart-ass corner...in any case the 'kids' are cute!!!! Sorry about Romos' foot...I will make him a little SKIRT to wear as he's hopping about! P.S, Can I please go to the bathroom? I've been in one corner or another for three days!!!! I can't hold it any longer!
