Pull out the phone book and start dialing numbers. You're going to have to be a telemarketer for a while until you can build a business. Send out flyers. If you have a printer, you can create your own flyer. Then walk the streets leaving your flyer in people's doors. There is no easy way to find customers. It takes a lot of time and leg work. It sounds as though you need to do some serious market research.  Is this through the fire department?  Are you licensed?  Are you considering the residential market or the business market?  Do you understand the liability involved?  Are there many competitors in the market already?  Do people install their own alarm systems?  How much would they pay?  Whose services do they currently use? If I were you, I would go to the closest New York Fire Department and start asking questions.
