I think the answer will differ depending on a person's leg strength.

Colleen, he said upwards and I know how to find out.

    17 inches is about right.

I know when I was in school it was all I could do to reach an 8' ceiling, but I could stand under a Basketball rim jump and touch it, my brother who was 2" shorter than I was, could get his hand above enought to hold on, thats more than 2 '....

Thanks, dondowningjr@aol.com I like photo editing....

The standing high jump record seems to be 180cm. The standing long jump was an olympic event until 1912. I think I jumped at least that high when I nearly stood on a king brown snake while in Oz.

Here's how to find out. Stand next to a wall say a brick wall outside with a piece of chalk in your hand. Reach up high then make a mark. Take a crouching posture ready to spring upwards, then jump straight up and make a new mark. Measure the distance between both marks. Results will vary with different people. That concludes the lesson for today. :D :D

It might be hard to make a mark at the top of your jump, put chalk on your fingers then all you need to do is touch the wall.

My guess would be it would depend if the boss were around..
