It depends on how much of an outie your is.  If it really sticks out, include a bell along with the regular ring.  You see, this way you can test the Pavlov theory of Classical Conditioning.  Ring the bell, he comes and gets all excited.  Ring the bell again and the more excited he becomes.  Keep ringing the bell and this time ask for his credit card.  By now he's too excited not to give you his credit card.  Now go spend like crazy!

Evidently, yes, you can pierce an outee.  The photo dozen look like it's very comfortable or attractive. I had mine pierced at one time and it was never comfortable for me.
