Don't tell the "Society" so named after this seeming paltry reference...how dare they? I had no idea...he did do some scribe work did he not? Perhaps this is in reference to? Crazy islanders...I'll not slight his memory again. ;)
Of course, you can; remember "to" is a preposition in this case, so you should use a comma after you finish the "to" phrase.
