GM vehicles of that vintage have a reset button. Check the fuse panel, often under the hood but it can also be below and to the left of the steering column. If you see a button (typically red) marked "oil", you've found it.
Turn the key on, without starting the engine, and press and hold the button for 10 seconds. The oil change light should then go off... provided that THAT'S the system used by your vehicle.
