If you're using a Microsoft mail program like Outlook or Messenger, just set the sound in the computer control panel to whatever sound you want. Or you can download a sound or you can even create your own sound.
For Yahoo mail, you need to have Yahoo! Messenger. You can get the messenger here http://messenger.yahoo.com
Now, when you run it, go to messenger--->Preferences--->Alerts and sounds
Enable the alert sounds, you can see there's one for buzzing you if you get a mail on your Yahoo! mailbox. You can select a file too, by "Browse".
But remember that you need to be logged into messenger for the alert to be given. Or it will alert you when you log in.
