My child has seen a specialist for her whole life who is not on the list of in network providers. Is there a way to add this provider?

My daughter has seen a pediatric cardiologist since birth. Her condition is mild to moderate so her follow up is every few years.  She has seen the same cardiologist for most of her life.  She needs followup on her appointment this year and her doctor is not listed as a provider.  Is there any exceptions to this rule?  I don't want to take her to a knew doctor who is not familiar with her plan of care. She is now 14 years old and would like to continue her care with her doctor who knows her condition best.

Talk to someone who is involved in providing coverage. Most likely there is a way to make that happen.
