You have one in your house? Open your door and try to guide it to the door by holding your hands up and out (without waving your arms around). Scare him a little as possible so he does not fly into the windows. You just want to heard him as much as possible. If you have drapes or mini blinds on your windows, close them so he does not fly into the glass. If he lands on the floor, have a large towel ready to toss over him, the gently lift him (with the towel still over him) and take him outside. 

As children, we were always told to put salt on a bird's tail, when he stops to peck it off, you can catch it....They passed out salt shakers at family reunions.........
