I have a very old JD 170 lawn mower with a flat tire on the front wheel. It has a "c" clamp on the wheel. How do I remove it to get off wheel off the mower? Thank you, Kathy

Hi Kathy! Are you sure it has a "C" clamp holding on the wheel? As long as I've been around things of that nature, I just can't envision what you are saying.

Okay, wait a minute...you have a snap ring that slides across and around the end of the shaft that is the axle. You take a pair of pliers and a small screwdriver and pull it out of the groove it is sitting in. MAKE SURE YOU ARE WEARING SAFETY GLASSES when you do this. It's not dangerous, but I always like to keep people safe. Hope this is of help. After you remove the clip, there should be a greasy old washer, and the wheel should slide right off.
