Is there a cap on how high rent can be raised in Texas?

My landlady just sent me a certified letter stating my rent will be raised $400 in Sept.

damn it damn it damn it! But I've been here 8 years and just started some asparagus growing!!!!

All the rentals in my state have increased  at least 200 % since 1986. The problem is, there are not enough Apartments for low income people.and other landlords take advantage of that. This raise in your rent is really high. Apply to the state for help, if you cant afford it. Texas real estate is much lower than the Northeast and Northwest.

Julie. I will. I did forget about your animals though. What a bummer! I will pray for them too and I know some other people on this site will pray for you and your animals . Love and prayers, Ann xxx

Rent has went nuts everywhere! I've moved in the past because of greedy landlords! Rent is now higher than house payments! I think with all the foreclosures -peoples credit ratings are bad so no new loans! However you HAVE to live somewhere so the rentals are making a killing!  I hope you can find a new place or be able to pay the increase!! Which I think is quite high!

If/when I find a new place, I'm taking my asparagus with me (to xplant) and giving all of my elephant ears to my sister. They'll fill her front bed! But I have 2 dogs and a cat.......

I live in a tourist area so rent around here in the summer is crazy! But people pay it! I wish you luck finding a new place! Maybe try in the country- it is sometimes cheaper!

It's already too damn high!  http://youtu.be/kcsNbQRU5TI  and   http://youtu.be/kcsNbQRU5TI

You can get information about fair housing in Austin, and some resources to help you find a better place.  I really hope the asparagus plants make it and am sad your lemon trees can't go with you if you leave.  (I don't know why everything is printing like a web address.)
