Vvverrry sscarrry sstufff eggie...medieval or not that is wild how belief systems can cause the most irrational behaviours among human beings!

Apparently the legend about garlic keeping vampires away was simply because the smell of garlic masked the smell of rotting corpses.

The garlic was probably used to garnish/season the STEAKS(Stakes).

Interesting stuff, fascinating to read about cultures, practices and rituals of the past

I didn't think Vampires retained skeleton form???

Pull the stakes out...presto, vampires walk the earth!

You definetly have a knack for finding stories of an unusual nature Eggie. The story almost doesn't surprise me though, considering they were holding witch hunts here in the states a couple hundred years ago. They definetly looked at the world differently back then.

Thank God for you, @eggie. I just had a bitching day and you've helped me. I'd like to have a long talk with a vampire right about now......

Then talk to your landlord, because it sounds like he/she has fangs deeply inserted and sucking you dry.

Because these bodies were stabbed in the chest with an iron or wooden rod before being buried they never became vampires! This practice was commun in Romania...
