Apparently the legend about garlic keeping vampires away was simply because the smell of garlic masked the smell of rotting corpses.

You definetly have a knack for finding stories of an unusual nature Eggie. The story almost doesn't surprise me though, considering they were holding witch hunts here in the states a couple hundred years ago. They definetly looked at the world differently back then.

Because these bodies were stabbed in the chest with an iron or wooden rod before being buried they never became vampires! This practice was commun in Romania...
