It is a german ledgend of a beautiful young girl named Lorelei who threw herself into the Rhine River in despair of a faithless lover.
After death, she was transformed into a siren and would from that time on be heard singing on a rock, 120 meter obove the waterline.
Her music lured sailors to death. The rock is named after her near St. Gearhausen in Germany.
