Even still Mirta, the law states they can not be around children. Following the law is not judging, it is the law. Period. Your friend should not have made a pass at a 17 year old. He was probably too old to be making a pass at a young person who was not even 18 yet. Apparently, the judge agreed, too old to be making a pass at a minor.

As an attorney of 26+years the best advice I can articulate to you is to (A).DO NOT MARRY THIS ALLEDGED BOYFRIEND.(B).READ THE ABOVE RESPONCES AND HEED THE ADVICE OFFERED. THESE PEOPLE(SEX OFFENDERS) DO NOT CHANGE.REGARDLESS OF THE TIME SINCE THE SAID OFFENCE WAS COMMITED.SAVE YOURSELF A WORLD OF HURT AND POSS.DAMAGE TO YOUR CHILD FOR LIFE.YOU WILL ALWAYS BE ON GAURD AND WONDERING WHAT IF....DO THE RIGHT THING FOR YOURSELF BUT MOST OF ALL, THE CHILD.BEST REGARDS,TJP.

not if u have any brains

Do you have a father or brothers in your life?  If so, are they normal enough to give you some sound vibes about him?  Perhaps he is not really an "offender" but maybe did something minor, that earned him that title?  Nah, who are we kidding, ditch him or risk loosing the girl!  Think with the logic, not some other emotion that you think is "love".  After all, isn't the love between a mother and daughter suppose to be one of the strongest bonds.  And you will loose it!  Do you want her to go to her father?  Sounds like you are going to marry this guy and probably loose the daughter.  Another poor kid in therapy (through no fault of her own)!

For the sake of your daughter, don do it. You are responcible for her till she is 18 yrs old. Also you wont be very popular with any of your neighbours, that have children. I am sure you can do better, husband wise.

I doubt that there is such a law anywhere. This question is now 4 mos. old. What has happened since then? What was the offense for? It could just have been for having child porn on his computer, which in many locales, is a crime; this does not necessarily mean that he would ever molest a child, but then again, you never know. No employer in his right mind, would ever hire him if his job put him near children. I would not take this chance, however. If he actually molested a child or exposed himself, definitely not, also.

You can do anything you want but is it in the best interest of your daughter might be the better question to ask. "sex offender" can mean a lot different offenses but personally I wouldn't think I would want to put my daughter or my custody of her at risk, do you?
