      Pruning shrubs in the spring is a common task for many homeowners. Pruning in spring allows ample time for cuts to heal quickly and hide themselves with new foliage.           prune the dead stuff away...anything that hasnt sprouted can be harmlessly eliminated.  lightly prune to shape any living branches/stems.

              Lilac bushes are best trimmed after they bloom in the spring. do it before new flowers are setting.  buds for next season.

                Consult with a professional landscaper they will give you the right info on pruning bushes and the right time of the year for pruning
