    does the size matter when melting ice with salt?

    I need this answer for class or I fail the class. Please I need it ,answer it for me. I tried it but could never get the answer.Even I asked the best science student in class!

    Check with a manufacturer for the facts. But, it has always been my experience that the larger granules of rock salt allow for more concentration of the salt where it contacts and seems to last longer. Finer or smaller granules tend to wash away or get diluted too fast to be able to do anything when melting ice.
