Years ago, in California, a person could attend "Traffic School" and have not only the fine/bail dismissed, but the DMV would not be notified of the infraction.
Nowadays, where I live in California, AFTER a court appearance and with the court's approval, one must pay the fine/bail, PAY to attend Traffic School (in person or on-line), and submit proof of complete and successful attendance to the court by a court-imposed deadline. The notice of the infraction is then NOT forwarded to DMV.
The only way to "beat it" without time or money out of pocket, is to plead innocent and request either a jury trial or a trial wherein the judge makes the ruling based on the evidence.
