People are living longer and longer all the time. Each week in our local paper there is always one or two people celebrating their 95th birthday. Better immunization, better nutrition, preventative medicine... they are all contributing to longer life.

There is evidence of an improving life span in the US at least.   When Social Security was enacted in the thirties that offered a pension at age 65, the average life span for a male was only 63 years.

Today in is 76 and 79 for woman

In the Bible 100 years or more was listed, but in the eighteenth Century is was was only 57 years old.
