Speaker cable comes in various conductor sizes, also known as guage sizes (awg = american wire guage) Sizes usually range from 22 awg (small) to about 10 awg (large).
Like in other things, size matters. The larger,the better. The larger, the more expensive. Just make sure that regardless of whether you space your speakers equally away from your amp or not, the speaker cable for each speaker should be of the same length.

YES!! And also make absolutely sure that you connect positive to positive and negative to negative or else the speakers will be out of phase. Meaning one is pulling other is pushing, you want them both pushing and pulling at the same time. Look at your speaker cones, you will see them going in and out or tightening up, especially visible with bass speakers.
