      1.  You get an idea, either for lyrics or music.


      2.  You write either the lyrics or music, using a guitar or piano or vocals.


      3.  You write the rest.


      4.  You play and sing it, working out the kinks and getting opinions on whether it's any good. 


      5.  If it's good, you send it to a publisher on paper or record it and submit it to a publisher.
