They can save a lot of bending, I often pick up things I've dropped with my toes, they help to walk also

Of course we do. They're to stop you from falling over on your face. And , how could you stand on your tippy toes,to reach something , if you didn't have any ?

My sister had a classmate in elementary school who lost one of her big toes in an accident. (The little piggy that went to the market).  
She had to learn how to balance and propel herself without it.  Yes, we need our toes.   

Well of course what else do why have when are fingernails are chewed to the bone., not only that we wont be hanging from any trees either.

Do toes need humans? Some people seem to have all their brains in their toes. Therefore, the toes could walk on tippy toes by themselves.

I have a girlfriend who woke from surgery to find her toes amputated (mistake) and she gets around fine now (she also lost a few fingers-it's amazing how she functions).......!
