    This is because statistical analysis is inherently a non-deterministic process, that is, we can never be 100 percent sure that something is going to happen definitely or not going to happen definitely. We can only say with a level of confidence and not absolutely.     It's called number crunching.  By compiling the statistics, conclusions can be drawn, at least for the particular testing parameters. Duh.

    Statistics don't lie, but statisticians do. You can put that on your statistics class essay exam.
