    9/6 = 1 3/6 > reduce 3/6 to 1/3

    Answer:  1 1/3

    9/6  >  You can reduce 9/6 to 3/2.

2 is divided into 3 one (1) time with 1 left over, then bring down the denominator > 2

    Answer:  3/2 = 1 1/2

    Check answer:

Multiply the whole number and the denominator and add the numerator. Then put back the denominator.

    1 3/6 = 1 x 6 + 3 = 9/6

    1 1/2 = 1 x 2 + 1 = 3/2
