Should the British monarchy be abolished or does it serve a useful purpose?

And should Prince William be the next king, bypassing his father Charles?

I must say I am a supporter of the queen, I think she does a great job and has always put her country first,. some of her family I'm not so sure about. But I think most people here in the UK feel the same about the Queen and her children and grand children,I can't really see a president being very popular over here. But who knows the next generation may have different ideas.

    Thanks! Who should succeed her?

Whoever is next in line when she dies, should be the person to succeed her .

A lot of upside potential to this title.  Just consider the fringe benefits. Typically they have their hands full.

Doo be Doo....It's fun to watch the monarchy.  I think Charles is a bit of a dud.  I would hate to see him be the last of the Monarchy-  but I'm a Yank what the heck do I know???

..AS MUCH AS WE KNOW..I`D SAY!!:-)

Monarchies are endangered species replaced unfortunately in too many places by monstruous types of government. Let the be whoever the succesor will be and the UK-istas should be the ones to decide.

Prince  Phillip ,is still one of our best commedians,

Trade ya  the Obama presidency for the British Monarchy.  Oh wait-- Obama is the King.

Republicanism in the United Kingdom is the movement which seeks to remove the British monarchy and replace it with a republic that has a non-hereditary head of state. The method by which the head of state should be chosen is not agreed upon, with some favouring an elected president, some an appointed head of state with little power, and others supporting the idea of leaving the political system as it is but without a monarch.

OY...the Monarchy has no political power- hasn't for a long time!

It does not need political power,

i don't know of any useful purpose it serves. Countries without monarchy are doing ok and don;t miss it. It is acostly institution.

What the Monarchy bring into the British economy far outweighs what they cost us.
