Pastry chef,....and anyone who doubts needs to work full bore in a commercial kitchen for a week.  Fork-lift drivers are just that,  drivers.  They may have to physically move merchandise some but the machines are doing most of the work, while they are sitting down. Kitchen  work, especially commercially, is grueling. I have done both, I know.  Walk a mile before judging......

I don't think fo 1 minute that Pastry Chef is not hard work , most probaly a little stressful also all those people to feed and to satisfy not easy

being a pastry chef is really hard not just stressful it is physically painful i work 12-14 hour shifts and my partner work 8 hours a day i am on my feet all day producing up to 500 of just one product and he complains because he emptied one shipping container and thinks my job is super easy and its NOT.

If you are a forklift driver in a builders yard it can be quite strenuous take it from me .

I was thinking along the lines of RSI for a pastry chef, also the grueling hours of shift work it often entails

That's what I did for a while, in a major home improvement warehouse. Yes, it is physical work, no desk job, but then again that's all I ever known. :->

As someone who has worked in hospitality,my money's on the Pastry Chef!I expect that certain hazards apply to both careers but the physicality of baking exceeds that of the more dormant position of driving(sitting versus standing).I suppose a study of caloric intake and output would settle this dispute once and for all so while I seek, you may sit and enjoy the view right here>>>""

Wish I could vote you up but have used up my quota for today!

I have driven a forklift and it requires full attention. The stress is mental more than physical, but you mess up, there is a BIG problem.  I knew a man who died in a forklift accident.

While never having been a pastry chef, I've baked plenty over the years, and it is more physically demanding.

Being a pastry chef is more physically demanding, it's a lot of work. Driving a fork lift doesn't demand much muscle use if you're working for the right company..........
