Check out the Ehow.com website, as it is a good website for things like this. Often it includes photographs and diagrams to gain a better understanding of what is being discussed. I will however tell you that an air or otherwise powered finish nail gun makes it a lot more pleasant than manually doing it by hand. Especially if you are doing it by yourself!
There are a lot of little tricks that make the end product look better, especially if you find yourself dealing with walls or ceilings that are not perfectly flat.
