Go east on US 83
Take exit for US 281 N
Exit at I-37N (US 281N)
Exit 139 to I-10W (US 87N; US-90W)  to El Paso
Go through the rest of Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and into California
I-10W to CA 60 (Riverside)
Merge at I-215N  (CA 60W)
Exit 29B  CA-71N (Pomona
Stay left at the fork  CA 57 /  CA 57N 
Exit 25C (it will be on the LEFT) for I-210W
Exit 1A (also on the LEFT) for I-5N / Golden State Freeway   Sacramento
Stay to the left at the fork
Follow the signs for AUTOS to merge onto I-5N / Golden State Freeway
There is a slight RIGHT to I-5N  San Francisco / Sacramento

It is a LONG, rather uneventful ride from El Paso through NM and AZ.  Bring lots of music!!
