        John F Kennedy was elected in the 1960 election and took office in January, 1961.  He was assassinated in Texas in November, 1963. Lyndon B. Johnson, the vice president, was sworn in and served the remainder of Kennedy's only term.
        Many consider JFK the best president of the 20th century, if not the history of the USA.
