A Cubic yard = 27 cubic Ft, or 46,656 cubic inches.

    The formula is:
    Length x width x height(Thickness)

    As an example:
A sidewalk 10 ft long 40 inches wide and 4 inches thick

    40 inches wide = 3.33 ft, 4 inches thick = .33 ft
    10 x 3.33 x .33 = 10.989 cubic ft.
    27 / 10.989 = 2.45 Cu Yards
    Or
    10 ft x 12 = 120 inches so
    120 x 40 x 4 = 19200 cubic inches
    46656/19200= 2.4 cu ft
