I have tried tuna steaks on the grill, good. I'm not a big fan of fish,however Blue gill fried is tasty. Also with Spring around the corner Deep fried smelt is good. I can live without fish easily! Eating I mean!

Stopped for a look and can`t believe no Aussie has picked the fish to end all fish.

Wild caught Barramundi from up the gulf country of Queensland /Northern Territory, not his farmed or make believe the real dinky die Barra.

Baked,fried, steamed even be good raw I reckon.

Yellow Belly also a great meal.

Others that appeal are whiting, (especially king george ), red emperor, deep sea perch, schnapper.

Last but not least Fishlet.

I'd love to try Barramundi. Maybe 1 in 1,000 Americans (if that many)have even heard of it. In Australia, how difficult is it to find outside of the Northern Territory and Queensland in a fish store, supermarket, or restaurant?

Very popular in most Australian fish restraunts but yo have to be careful some try to pass others species off as Barra. or sell some farmed stock as fresh wild caught.
I was offered "fresh" Barra in one of Sydneys` leading fish restaurants when there was a moratorium on the catch due to breeding season.

Fishlet , who said anything about frying you up? You would taste just fine raw.I am not on holiday just some "me" time but I watch you all every couple of days to keep tabs on you.

We had a lot of catfish when my boys were kids. Cut it in chunks, kinda like "nuggets". Delicious!

yes catfish is eaten with hushpuppies,I like the fish whole with out the head. bluegill and croppie are good.I used to go fishing with my dad on the boat. I do not know about bottom feeder taste.

@Digger;
I know this and it a "creep me out" except I can't eat soy (tofu) as I am allergic and also allergic to legumes... I need protein and so I eat eggs but I do wonderful things with them so you know... grey area is not so grey.
I am also allergic to eggs but I do have to live.
I am also allergic to a lot of meat and so the vegetarian thing is not such a stretch.
Give a girl a break!

Estuary fish mainly.I don't like larger fish with the strong flavour.

Here in Australia we have a fish called Flathead (& that's what they look like).Excellent eating.Also Diver Whiting.You have to get about 20 of them to call it a feed they they are excellent too.

I tried Catfish in Mississippi,Very similar to our Flathead,only smaller.I liked it.

Fish-a-holicism is a serious disease that effects Scotsmen with severe tastebud impairment which usually begins setting in somewhere around the age of 12 due to an over consumption of porridge prepared the Scottish way (I know as I have been exposed to this particular recipe for porridge serving and it truly is tragic). Dowsa's severe impairment effects the frontal lobe and cranial sacral fluid flow because of a lack of the proper nutrients to the correct areas in the brain... Resulting in a herky-jerky motion of brain activity. Our poor dear fish friends (Me secifically) become a very large focus for these unfortunate souls (Dowsa specifically).
This man needs help.
This man is in denial.
This man needs rehab as stated earlier... The Uppermost Greater Mongolia Rehab Center for Fish-a-holics and Egg Issues International
The taxi cab will arrive in 16 minutes.... Let's get this guy to Rehab! Let the fish swim free!
