      Priority mail means it is sent on the first available service by air, or express over land,  and it costs three times the price of a regular mail delivery. Akin to a courier service therefore expensive, and confirms receipt at  the other end of the item sent by you. Also allegedly sent despite there being airline strikes and postal strikes :) etc..
