HOW CAN I HELP A CHILD WHO IS OBESE THAT OTHER CHILDREN PICK ON?

Start making healthier eating  choices and get the child outdoors for some exercise, walking, bike riding , etc.

Add: Fresh fruit and vegetables that can be taken on the go or packed in a luncAdd: Low-fat or non-fat milk and dairy products, including string cheese.

Add: Whole grain breads and cereals, pretzels, low-fat microwave popcorn.

Add: Low-fat frozen yogurt, frozen fruit juice bars, fig bars, ginger snaps.

Subtract: Soda, sweetened lemonade, fruit punch, and fruit juice with added sugar.

Subtract: Hot dogs, fatty lunch meats, sausage, chicken nuggets.

Subtract: White bread, sugary breakfast cereals, chips.

Subtract: Cookies, cakes, candy, ice cream, donuts.

Start with his ego. It has to be low with being picked on so much. Tell him that he is special and he needs to treat himself that way, this means eating right for the body.........

How old is the "young child" we're talking about here? ... Remind him he is dearly loved and special everyday  in your eyes. Assuming you're his parent/guardian, Monitor his eating intakes and make sure he's out about walking or participating in anything physical activities relating exercises. Encourage him to participate in school sport activities and hange out with peers/friends that accept him of who he is...

i agree with pythanlover..Kids can be SO mean to each other:-(...I`D SAY DO ALL THAT..AND HEAP PRAISE on all that she`s good at!...Really important that she gains confidence so that she doesn`t lack self esteem in the future and now..and why not do some family sports activities?...And relay your fears to his/her teachers if you are worried re bullying.

    Good Luck..millie x

start with building the self confidence of the child, rather than putting a negative on what they are doing or eating, subtle changes  can be introduced at the child's pace when they are comfortable being who they are, make things enjoyable and fun, other kids will gravitate to a confident fun loving child in time
