    What is the answer to:2 and 2/3 divided by 1 and 1/4?

    I am tutorian and I can not get this answer via of breaking the equation down.

      2 2/3  /  1 1/4


      Steps:


      1. Change the mixed fractions into improper fractions.


              2 2/3 = 8/3  and 1 1/4 = 5/4


      2. Put problem back together.  >  8/3  /  5/4


      3. Take the reciprocal of the second fraction and multiply.


                8/3 x 4/5 = 32/15  >  then reduce


      Answer: 2 2/15
