    Ron Paul.

    Wanna bet?
    valR

    Do you still think so?

I have a feeling that it'll be Obama,  Two reasons:

Firstly, people generally vote their pocketbook or their confidence in their future financial situation.  The unemployment rate now sits at around the low 8's per cent. and should go to around mid 7's % by the summer.  If he can somehow get it to drop to around 6.7% (at least under 7%), I think he's in.

Secondly, I don't see a lot of strong Republican candidates thus far.  They seem to be too busy trying to throw knockout punches at each other.

@Umbriel, Obama is the current and will be the next. Every term is a new beginning.
    Flip

@digger: Did Umbriel just refer to you as a "Yank"? :o)
    digger

    @Flip. Yes,he did. An honest mistake,I'm sure;-)
But thanks for pointing it out !
    Bob/PKB

Umbriel: My interpretation of the question is asking who will win the election coming up in November. My interpretation of the questions here is NEVER wrong. Actually, I know that's not true, but I've got a bit of attitude tonight.

I believe it will be Obama-- Not by the stroke of my vote but he has the entire media behind him and  so many followers that vote for his color rather than his policies, also he has the young vote as it is the cool thing to do, vote for Obama.  Too many people voting that do not even know what issues are being represented and they don't really care. Also too many people voting for promised entitlements. The media will slam hard any conservative that will run against him, there will be no dirt on Obama, although I believe he has quite a few skeletons in his closet as well but you will never hear of them. The media will have him elected

    sunnyB

Thats exactly why he is liked so much in the UK, most people hear don't think about his politics, it's just because of colour and because they think it's cool as you say to support him. I must say when he came over hear he gave the impression he was a nice enough person, but don't all polititions.
    Vinny

Absolutely SunnyB. Its all about marketing! Obama has so much going for him, none of which to do with his political agenda. This 'public acceptance' is exactly how may dictators of tyranny were placed in dangerous positions in the past. Its a history lesson being played out in current times. Sad for America IMO.
    Vinny

Yes Umbriel, and i answered that. Remember in the USA our presidents may have two 4 year terms, Obama has served one term, the next term he stands chance of winning again, I believe he will win and we will have four more years of Obama. So, he is our current president and he will also be our next president.. IMO..
    digger

    You're right,Vinny. Umbriel doesn't quite get it.
    Vinny

Good lord.. LOL Why yes he would! However, in the contex the question was put forth, it was not taken chronologically! I took it in simpler terms as 'who will be the next president' meaning, what will his/her name be? I stated that I believe it would be Obama. Umbriel, I have nothing but the greatest respect for 'You Brits'-- I certainly don't think 'yanks' are superior in any way. Except that it rains over there every day-- at least, that's what we Yanks think.. LOL
    mycatsmom

Vinny, All of your comments were well put
    Vinny

Thanks you mycatsmom, I was kinda worried my communication skills were under attack.. LOL :)

I am gazing into my crystal ball... Its getting clearer it looks like a man, no wait something larger and green...oh never mind my nephew sneezed. Darn I've got to clean this up--I'll have to get back to you. Maybe in Sept.

    Ed1530

Please hurry back and I will even tip this time.

I think Obama will get a second term with the economy supposedly slowly turning around. The republican canditates are a joke, except for Ron Paul and Newt Gingrich. Ron Paul has the right idea how to get our country back on track, but sadly all the big corporations and the elite have no use for him. They only vote for the person that can give them something in return.. What a sad state of affair.

Judging from the amount of irresponsible idiots that think the world of obama, he will win again. Unfortunately there are more of them than responsible intelligent people.

    daren1

You know you might be right if the republicans can't get their sh*t in order..
    zorro

I really dont have much confidence . Dont really like any of the choices either.
    Vinny

This is the problem, as a Republican I feel I wasn't given a candidate that meets ~my~ agenda. But then, if I wanted it all my way, I too would run for office. If Obama can come up from nowhere and win the highest elective office, why can't I?? LOL. I can 'not' show up for meetings as often as he did.. :)

    Oh my!

Really? Do you really think that a first baseman (Who) can win?

    Ed1530

I think “Who” was silly too in that everyone knows “What” is the shoe-in.
    figtree3

    I don't know :)

Loved that exchange between Abbott & Costello. I think I've even used parts of it in an answer here. GOOD JOB, guys!

A doctor from Israel says: "In Israel the medicine is so advanced that we cut off a man's testicles; we put them into another man, and in 6 weeks he is looking for work."

The German doctor comments: "That's nothing, in Germany we take part of the brain out of a person; we put it into another person's head, and in 4 weeks he is looking for work."

A Russian doctor says: "That's nothing either. In Russia we take out half of the heart from a person; we put it into another person's chest, and in 2 weeks he is looking for work."

The U.S. doctor answers immediately: "That's nothing my colleagues, you are way behind us....in the USA, about 3 years ago, we grabbed a person from Kenya with no brains, no heart, and no ba%&s....we made him President of the United States, and now....... the whole country is looking for work.

    caddam

    Oh, thats good !
    Bob/PKB

I'd laugh if it weren't so true.

    Newt Gingrich..

Gloria, Im on the flight out with you!
    daren1

I think we all agree on obuma..
    Bob/PKB

I wouldn't vote for the Newtster.....and I am GOP from the getgo.....not too enthusiastic about anybody.
HEY, how about we write in one of US????
    mycatsmom

daren, I almost gave you a TD for that. LOL

    Hillary Clinton, 2017.

I think it willl be Obama due to black vote and where ever he gets all his money. The republicans are killing each other off.

Our next president will be a little known candidate who will come forward in the next couple of weeks.  Dick Weed.

    digger

Wow,Bob ! You sound somewhat pissed off at the caliber of G.O.P. candidates.
    I agree with you. Deadwood.
    Bob/PKB

It's just one figurehead after another. Some group of sinister bazillionaires is behind every election. I read "The Candidate" by John Grisham shorthly after the 2008 election. It was just too spot on....even though it's fiction, I think there is WAY TOO MUCH TRUTH in that novel.
    Ann

Bob, I saw Grisham on a talk show. He used to be a lawer. What he wrote is based on his experience. A very smart man and very believable
    Bob/PKB

Ann, I think I've read every one of his books, except "A Time To Kill" -- the beginning was to horrible; I saw the movie and it was A+. I agree with you....very smart and believable. Excellent writer.

I think it's the biggest mess I've ever seen. I think Obama will get it unless something happens to slow the economy again. I don't see a real choice in the whole group.

heard today on the news that 52% of Americans think that the Big O  will win........but that doesn't neccesarily mean that I think he will, or that he will . Besides, how did they survey  300 million people in the U.S. to get their statistics ? No one called me. Did anyone survey you ?

    Bob/PKB

THANK YOU, mycatsmom! No one has EVER called me for a political survey (or any other survey for that matter). Perhaps that is why I am so eager to give my opinion here. IF the big 0, as in zero, wins again, it will only be because the GOP has castrated themselves!
    Ann

Mc, no one has called me either. I dont believe these statistics are accurate.
    digger

mcm, Scientifically conducted opinion polls are extremely accurate when done by legitimate polling organizations. An appropriate numerical sampling consisting of numerous variables such as geographic location, age, gender, race and academic background always result in dependable predictions. 19 times out of 20, within a few percentage points (depending on the sampling size)

Naturally, a poorly conducted poll will yield poor results.
    doolittle

they called, I was out. the cat gave them quite the ear-full.

It's anyone's guess... just read all answers.
