The entire family shows up at my place. (under penalty of banishment) I love having them all here.

Household means, pets, fish, dogs, mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, grand parents, anyone in the same house at the same time, includes servants (and/or maids in the western world, baby sitters?). Yes you can have a holiday with all of them, but it's no holiday if it is in the same house. And its pretty expensive taking them all on holiday, then there is nobody to take care of the pets fish etc... So ration the holidays to groups, your direct family, then the grandparents, then the parents without the kids.. Much more practical.
