    Is that 12 star?

    3*4 means the same as 3 x 4, which mean 4 + 4 + 4.  It's called multiplication, which is a "shorthand" way of adding the same number repeatedly.
    You should learn your multiplication tables asap. It will help you in immeasurable ways throughout your life.
