    Again, the thermostat is bad. 

    Check the "Honeywell" box on the unit. It's a timer. Colleens answer should be checked as well.

    If it is an old hot air furnace, they have a setting where you can make it circulate air within the house. If this is the case, you need to set the knob to the heat setting. I say this, as this will make it seem like a furnace not shutting off after cycling.


    Go to Google and type in repair furnace, and you will find a lot with diagrams and pictures to give you a broader understanding of what you are dealing. It also has trouble-shooting section.
