If you Google 'DIY still ethanol' you will find the info you seek. If you are truly a metalsmith you should be able to make one easily. In France, the mobile alembic (still) continues to operate. Last year I fermented 100kg of plums and the distiller produced about 10 litres of alcohol at 50% for me.
