how often does a timing belt need to be changed on a Kia Spectra with the four cylinder Kia engine?
Have been told that it should be done at 45000 miles and also that if it is not done immediately it will void warranty (not told that by a dealer!!) Am planning to call dealer Monday, but wanted to see if anyone else has had this experience. Car now has 64000 miles and is running great. No leaks, noise or other issues.

kias need the t.b. replaced at 60k miles. i would do the belt soon since if it breaks ,it will bend the valves. it will cost a lot more if you let it go bad. it should be around 800-1300 dollars if you get the water pump, oil seal, belt ,t.b. idler pulley and t.b. tentioner. this is the best way to do it if you will be keeping the vehicle for at least for 3 years or more.
