My black Lab has a lump on his shoulder, it started quite small but now has grown to the size of a 10 pence piece. It does have clumps coming off it which at first looked like dry skin but the lump is weeping now, and it is bothering him. He is a rescue dog and hates strangers with a passion, which means that visiting the vets is traumatic and often fruitless. Please help.

Quite simply, you have no other option than to visit the vet. Do what you must and do it without delay.

A vet trip is needed, if you contact the vet and explain the problem he may give you a sedative for you to give your dog before you take him in

Yes, a vet.  If it causes the dog extreme anxiety the vet may beable to give you a pill for the dog to take before the visit.  It will help to calm the dog down.

Labs are prone to growths like that but it nees to be removed ..      It will keep on growing and may open up and start bleeding & get infected ..
