ACDC is my favorite hard rock band. I've been to see them in concert.

Elvis Presley and Andy Gibb were my idols.

The Bee Gees are unique, I love the falsetto.

John Denver had a way of making us feel at one with nature.( and he was so cute)

I grew up listening to country greats such as: Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, Tammy Wynette, George Jones, Meryle Haggard, Willie Nelson, etc.

Instrumental music calms me down when I'm pissed off.

Folk music does wonders for getting me in the Christmas spirit.

I consider myself lucky to like so many different types of music.

Saw him about (I'm guessing) 8 years ago, and again about 3 years ago. He sure isn't your typical celebrity...very laid back...acts like "one of us". :)

This is why we love him here in Texas. He's just one of us. He even eats at Dairy Queen.
    Russrocks

Anyone who eats at Dairy Queen and is still making music after all these years is all right by me!

    Both kinds. Country  and Western.

    FISH-O

    That's funny!
    Tommyh

    It's older than me,Too!LOL

I'm with many here...60s-70s rock.( Led Zepplin, The Who & Eric Clapton especially)

I have to sneak the old Rodster in here. Maggie May takes me back to my teen years in a nano-second.

I also LOVE the blues....Howlin' Wolf, Sonny Terry & Brownie McGee, BB.King, Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Leadbelly and on and on! (These talented men were the foundation of many of the famous British rock acts of the 60s, as they listened to and emulated the music coming from America.)

Last but not least I love listening to Luciano Pavarotti and...Kid Rock.(My guilty secret! ha ha)

    digger

Pavarotti. Now you're talking. The best !
    Dardaigh

Nobody...but nobody came close to the depth of that man's voice.
    Russrocks

    Stevie Ray Vaughn?
    Dardaigh

I know he's an icon to many, Russrocks but for some reason he was not my cup of tea, though it was tragic that he died at such a young age.

Country and Western from the days gone by.

    Slim Dusty.

    Reg Lindsay.

    Wilf Carter.

    Tex Morton.

    John Williamson.

    Just name a few.

Like country ballads best of all.

    nomdeplume

I particularly like John Williamson's song 'The Shed' :
All Australian boys need a shed
A place where he can go and clear his head.
To think about the things his woman said
Yes all Australian boys need a shed.
    PEOPLELOVER

I am having True Blue at my funeral service and Slims Looking forward looking back.
    dowsa

Peoplelove I like the ballads.like Marty Robbins Gene Watson ( My fare well party good Funeral song )

    40s.

    Dardaigh

Was Sinatra in the 40s, benkick9?

I'm pretty easy to please.  My least favorite is Hip Hop or Rap.
Classical, "Show Tunes", 30's through 2012....there's so much to enjoy.
And, yes, music should liberate emotions within the listener.

Anything that makes me laugh, smile, cry, sing-along, dance or remember good times in days gone by.  Music -- like any good art form --should bring out emotions in the listener, reader or viewer.

Love the eighties, especially in a big disco hall with flashing lights going on you as you dance.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

    gloriafrmCal

I had the most fun during the disco era. Dressing up and those platform shoes brings up some fond memories.
    Gloria Gaynor "I Will Survive"
    lindilou

I knew others would appreciate this little beauty!Peace!

I Like a bit of choping,or Handel, mixed with  a bit of jonny Ray

AC/DC rock. I always crank 'em on the radio in the car but oddly enough I don't own any of theirs.

    Favourite BeeGee song...First Of May.

John Denver- always had a soft spot for him and born on same day (NOT same year, lol.)

    Russrocks

My favorite Bee Gees song is "I started A Joke" because it's sad and ironic, and sung by Robin instead of Barry's falsetto.
    Dardaigh

Now see? While I'm reading your response, First Of May is running through my head. Funny how music works. They say if you can set something to music it will be much easier to learn and can be easily recalled many years later, like ABCDEFG...lol. Such as when we had to learn songs in Latin as children. I still know them but have no idea what I'm singing.

Anything that is not hard rock or electronica. My preferences are shown in www.reverbnation.com/taba.. free adverts by the way amongst 2 million artists :).

    ed shank

    Boooo.

    Classical and 50's Rock.
