Some laptops have two buttons by upper center of the keyboard, one for power, one for wireless. Click on the one for wireless, and wait to see if it goes from red to blue in color. If it doesn't, you will need to go down to the lower right hand side of the screen and click on one of the icons until a small box comes up giving you a choice of turning your "wireless lan" on or off. Click on it to turn it on if it is off.  The next thing that will come up will be a drop down menu showing you what wireless networks it is receiving a signal from. Choose your network, if you have one.

You should get your own wireless service and wireless router, and password secure the network. I say this as otherwise someone could use your network to get on some inappropriate site, and then it be followed back to your network. It just insures against the chance of wrongfully being accused of anything, if someone uses your network without your knowledge. In the event of something like that occuring, each and every computer has its own IP number, and that would indicate what computer was or was not used. But, it just is a good idea to secure your network.
