schizophrenia effects everyone, not only the person with this condition , the persons family,friends and community. There is plenty of help available and also very specific medications that assist in controlling this condition.Without specialized help this can be a very debilitating condition for that person and all those involved with and around that person

This horrible mental illness usually happens around the age of 20, although anyone can be afflicted at any time. 20 seems to be the age when signs appear.

I have a friend with schizophrenia. He's probably one of the nicest people you could meet, but if he slips up on taking his medication, you spend your time having to reel him back into reality. But when he's on his medication he leads a fairly normal life.

I have a relative with this illness....does not accept the diagnosis as the mental health workers are "after me" and "I don't need any medication"....therefore....well known to all mental health facilities and ambulance drivers and paramedics and police.  Sad situation.

it is a horrible disease.I am sure it affects all involved with that person.

I think it's true effects are on those around them more so than the one with it.
