So, I challenged animals all around the world to answer this. Here are the resuls: "from the sunrise to the sunset" (owl) ; "huh?" (ant) ; "could you please pass the water?" (camel);" from that tree to the tree across the grasses" (lion) ; "move, NOW" (shark); "from my roost atop that tree to the far side of the mountain" (eagle).....and so, it all seems to be based on one's perception of the world.

On which continent? You would hit an ocean at some point and your travels would be stopped. Now if you take a boat and airplane to cross oceans and mountains, then distance is only as long as you had fuel for the transports.

Colleen, that's a great answer. I never thought about it, but I guess it would apply and single point on a line. Left of the point is east and right of the point is west and since any point is infinately small the distance between them is also. So, it would depend on your point of reference.
