      sharon- i am a medical professional and have not heard of this.  We use many short cuts when speaking and writing.  I suspect that adom or ADOM stands for a lengthy name of an illness with each letter of ADOM representing the first letter of each word of the name. (for example: ALL stands for acute lymphoblastic leukemia).  We also use similar shortcuts for medications with long complicated names.
